JMU announces a bold strategic plan

When Jonathan R. Alger became president of James Madison University, he immediately went on a listening tour. His goal was to ask students, faculty, alumni, parents, community members and friends of the university for their views on what makes Madison unique and superior. Overwhelmingly, the number one response was that close relationships were the most important component of their experience.

The new value proposition

July 1, 2014 marks the start of a new strategic plan for James Madison University. President Alger brings to Madison a keen view of the higher education landscape, and his plan is to build on the hybrid model wisely conceived and built by former presidents Linwood H. Rose and his predecessor Ronald E. Carrier.

JMU is positioned to become the national model of the engaged university.
